Azaleas in Rancho Cordova, 4/17/08

…looks really gorgeous coming through azaleas. Don’t you agree?

It was a delicious morning, and after my early jog, I sat down to breakfast and saw this spectacular light show just outside my dining room window.

They just begged me to shoot them, and who was I to say no?

… are the subject of today’s header photo. Taken Sunday, March 30, 2008.

The American River Parkway in and around Sacramento is a wonderful place to watch the tamer sorts of wildlife. The wild turkeys there are very mellow, and I’ve seen herds of deer numbering over 20 head. My guess is they find the Parkway gives them relative safety from mountain lions.

The deer don’t seem to be concerned about thugs, as this unfortunate visitor needed to be.

It may be important to say, here and now, that I’ve spent many many hours bicycling and jogging along the American River, and have never had a problem with thugs. On the other hand, most of those hours have been out beyond Watt Avenue, where it’s more suburban than urban.

And since this blog is about food, I’ll admit that sightings of wild turkey and deer make me hungry.  Very very hungry.

So, it begins… Max Hansen’s evil plot to dominate the vast realm of greater Sacramento food blogging.

Mwa-ha-ha-ha-haaaaa!
